Bruce Pagel (53) was Valedictorian of his class and one of the best all around athletes in the 212 Conference in the early 1950’s.  The son of the BIHS Superintendant of Schools, he was a three time All Conference selection in basketball.

Harvey Kienholz (54) was voted to the 212 All Conference football team for three years.  The 5’10, 235 pound center-middle linebacker dominated conference play for three years.  Kienholz went on to a successful football career at Gustavus Adolphus.

1952 880 Relay Champions:  Left to Right:  Don Liendecker, Bruce Pagel, Bob Robinson and Roger Wolff.  Liendecker was the first sprint champion in the conference.  Robinson excelled in every sport he played.  The 1952 relay team won the 212 Conference and District 12 Championships.

Bob Robinson (54)was the first player in the 212 Conference to score over 1000 points.

Roger Deleeuw (54)  was an All Conference guard  in 1954 and 1955.

Luverne Kienholz (56) was the best half back in the conference in 1955. He gained 1229 yards in 8 games, scored 6 TD’s and played in the 1957 All-Star Football game.

Norm Seehusen (57) was a 6’5 center and Gordon Klemp was a 6’4 forward on the 1957 Championship team.  Seehusen went on to play basketball at St.Cloud State, and Klemp went on to have a successful career in football at Gustavus Adolphus

Rod “Sandy” Deleeux (58) was a two time All Conference linemen in football in 1956 and 1957.  The 5’9, 170 pound guard, also started on the 1957 basketball team.  He was the younger brother of Roger Deleeuw.

Brothers Don (59) and John Collins (62) were outstanding student-athletes at BIHS.  Both boys were all conference athletes, honor roll students, played in the band, sang in musical groups, participated in class plays, and were student leaders on the student council.

Dick Robinson (61) was one of the best basketball players in the conference in the early 1960’s.  The younger brother of Bob Robinson, Dick made the all conference team in basketball in 1960 and 1961.

Chuck Kienholz (61) was one of the outstanding all around athletes in the 212 conference in 1961.  Chuck was the younger brother of Harvey and Luverne Kienholz.

Dick Bjur (63) led the Panthers to the  greatest turn around in 212 history.  He rushed for 1138 yards and scored 12 TD’s in 1962.  Bjur was selected to the All-Conference football and basketball teams.

Linemen Ray Foesch (64) was a two time all  conference player. John Naujokas (65) was an outstanding football, basketball and track athlete in the mid-1960’s.

Called “gym rats” by the coaching staff, these four set the all time scoring average for a team in conference play with an 88.4 per game average.Front Row: Otto Naujokas and Keith Sharpe. Back Row: Brian Flann and Mark Olson.

 

Larry Beckler (69) was an outstanding wrestler and conference champion in the late 1960’s.

Greg Buboltz (69)  was a two time conference champion  in the late 1960’s.

Scott Setzephant (73) was an outstanding wrestler in the early 1970’s.  The younger brother of Paul he was a 3 time conference champion.

 


John Becker (70) was the oldest of the three Beckler brothers that were wrestling champions. John won a 212 conference championship in 1969.

Jeff Beckler (72) was a two time conference champion in the early 1970’s. He was the middle brother of John and Rick.

Jim Stein (74) was one of the outstanding wrestlers in BIHS history.  He was a three time champion in 1971, 1972 and 1973.

 


Rick Beckler (74) was the outstanding wrestler in BIHS history.  The younger brother of John and Jeff, Rick won five straight 212 Conference Championships from 1970 through 1974.  He finished second in the state tournament at 112 in 1973 and third place in 1974.   Along with the Beckler brothers, Larry Beckler and Greg Buboltz were first cousins.

 


Coach Jack Gomarko was the Football  and Baseball coach at BIHS in the early 1970’s.  His teams were always at the top of conference in both sports.

Joe Holloway (72) was an all conference football and basketball player in 1971 and 1972.

 


Jerry Lingl (71) was an outstanding Wrestler and Baseball catcher in the early 1970’s.


Brad Manderscheid (74) was one of the outstanding Football-Wrestler combination athletes in conference history.

Dale Mahlow (74) was an all conference Basketball and Baseball player in 1974.
