When the two teams met in mid-season, they tied 13-13. It was one of the all-time classic battles in the 212 conference. Both teams had a number of quality athletes that performed well in all sports. Hector had QB Corky Ahl, HB Jim Jurisch, tackle Forest Broderius, guard Gary Torbert, plus an outstanding junior class that would go undefeated in 1955. Renville had some of the premier athletes in the conference, Sr. HB Roger Dunnick, junior guard Larry Youngs, end Warren Brandt and FB Mally Bengston. Hector scored 243 points on the season for a 30.4 per game average. On defense they gave up a total of 38 points for a 4.8 per game average.
