1949-1950 Conference Football Champions: Hector Bulldogs
The Hector Bulldogs won their 3rd consecutive 212 Conference Football championship by going 7-0 for the 3rd straight year. The Danube Hawks also went undefeated during the season, but had a 12-12 tie at Stewart early in the season. Due to limited scheduling difficulties Hector and Danube never met during the season. The Bulldogs were led by All-State end Neal Person and Halfbacks, Howard “Shorty” Olson and Gene McDonald. They ended the season with a 22 game winning streak. Neal Person, Hector, 6’1, 185 lb. End, made the Minnesota All-State team. He led the Bulldogs to a 23 game winning streak through the 1949 season and scored 105 points for the season.

1950 Basketball Champions: Brownton Bears

The Brownton Bears won their 2nd consecutive 212 Conference Basketball Championship. 6’2 sophomore, Don Padrnos led the team in scoring with 245 points for an 11.1 scoring average. Other outstanding players on the team were 6’4 center, Henry Peterson, 6’2 forward, Allen Wisdorf, and guard Neil Katzenmeyer. In District 12 play, the Bears beat sub-district champion, Buffalo Lake, 56-43 in the quarter-final round. In the semi finals, their friendly neighbor from the north, Hutchinson, over powered the Bears, 56-39. Hutchinson would go on to win the District 12 Championship.
